 Face Lift (Rhytidectomy)
As people age the effects of gravity, exposure to the sun, and the stresses of daily life can be seen in their faces. Deep creases form between the nose and mouth; the jaw line grows slack and jowly; folds and fat deposits appear around the neck. A facelift (technically known as rhytidectomy) can't stop this aging process. What it can do is "set back the clock," improving the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and re-draping the skin of your face and neck. A facelift can be done alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping.
 Forehead Lift / Brow Lift
A forehead lift or "brow lift" is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes. The procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad, or tired. In a forehead lift, the muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows, and minimize frown lines. Dr. Osgood may use the conventional surgical method, in which the incision is hidden just behind the hairline, or it may be performed through an endoscopic procedure creating minimal incisions.
 Neck Lift
For patients desiring to improve the contour of the neck and jaw line (or jowls) there are two procedures that can help. If the neck is an area that your body tends to store fat, then microsuction of the neck may be recommended. If the skin and muscle in the neck and jaw line have become weak over time, then a neck lift may be recommended.
 Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
If you believe that your eyes are making you look tired, sad, or older than you really feel, cosmetic eyelid surgery (also called blepharoplasty) may be the right choice for you. Eyelid surgery can remove the excess fat and drooping skin of the upper eyelids, minimize bags under the eyes, and tighten the lower eyelid skin. The result is a more alert and rested appearance.
 Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
Rhinoplasty is usually performed as an outpatient surgery and the procedure normally takes two to three hours. Most incisions are made on the inside of the nose. Dr. Osgood understands that an ideal nose should be in harmony with the rest of the face. He takes particular care to refine and reshape the nose according to patient's ethnic background, age and skin type. Often nose reshaping and chin enhancement will be recommended in conjunction with rhinoplasty, since a chin implant will improve facial balance and projection.
 Chin Augmentation
The chin is an important component of the overall facial profile. However, if the chin is too small, a chin implant is required for correction.
The Cheek Lift Vertical Cheek Lift Procedure
A cheek lift (also called a vertical cheek lift) can significantly reduce wrinkles, sagging skin, or a depressed appearance in the cheeks. As a person ages, the cheeks (which are situated over the cheek bone) descend, aging the lower eyelid and deepening the upper part of the smile line. A cheek lift repositions the cheek frame in an upward direction. The cheek fat is repositioned along with underlying fascia and muscle, creating more youthful eyes and softening the smile line. The incisions for the cheek lift are made beneath the lower eyelash line (similar to an eyelid tuck or blepharoplasty surgery). The surgery takes approximately two and a half hours and most people are back at work in seven to ten days.
 Lip Augmentation
Fuller lips are an indication of youth and beauty. As you glance through today's magazines you will see full lips displayed prominently on all models. As we grow older the lips become thinner and longer, and fine vertical lines appear - making lipstick bleed. Fortunately, there are various techniques available to help improve this situation, and Dr. Osgood can elaborate on them to assist you in your selection.
 Ear Reduction (Otoplasty)
Ear Surgery, or otoplasty, is usually done to set prominent ears back closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears. For the most part, the operation is done on children between the ages of 4 and 14. Ear surgery on adults is also possible, and there are generally no additional risks associated with ear surgery on an older patient.
 Liposuction
Liposuction, technically known as suction-assisted lipectomy, is a technique to remove unwanted fat deposits from specific areas of the body, including the chin, neck, and cheeks; the upper arms and above the breasts; the abdomen, buttocks, hips, and thighs; and the knees, calves, and ankles. These procedures are meant for body contouring. The result is a sculpting of bulging areas into more attractive contours. These procedures permanently remove fat cells to improve your body's contour. Should you gain weight after the procedure, it goes to the fat cells that remain in your body. Thereby, you gain weight more evenly. The localized fatty deposits that existed prior to the procedure can no longer balloon up out of proportion to the surrounding areas. Liposuction is a body contouring procedure, not a weight loss procedure.
 Abdominoplasty Surgery
Abdominoplasty, known more commonly as a "tummy tuck," is a major surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdominal wall and to tighten the abdominal muscle. The procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen.
 Labioplasty (Labia Reduction) Surgery
Labioplasty, (labiaplasty), also known as labia reduction, vaginal lip reduction, or labia rejuvenation, is a procedure to decrease the size and improve the appearance of enlarged, hypertrophic or assymetrical labia minora. The enlarged labia may cause some women to experience discomfort with pinching or pulling during certain activities, or with some clothing. Sometimes childbirth may cause the labia to become stretched and enlarged, and reconstruction after childbirth may become necessary. Labioplasty can reduce this discomfort and enlargement with a simple outpatient procedure to create a smaller, thinner, more comfortable, size and shape.
Reconstructive Surgery After Massive Weight Loss in San Francisco
Many patients come to Dr. Osgood after losing a significant amount of weight, or after gastric bypass bariatric surgery. While they are pleased with their smaller size, many are unhappy with the extra, sagging skin and tissue they are unable to get rid of. The solution to this problem is a major surgical body contouring procedure, sometimes done in multiple stages, to remove excess skin and fat from the sagging areas, and tighten the surrounding muscles. The procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen, sagging back, buttocks, arms, or thighs.
 Breast Augmentation Surgery
Breast augmentation / breast implants, technically known as augmentation mammaplasty, is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breast for a number of reasons:
  • To enhance the body contour of a woman who, for personal reasons, feels her breast size is too small
  • To correct a reduction in breast volume after pregnancy
  • To balance a difference in breast sizes
  • As a reconstructive technique following breast surgery
  • By inserting an implant behind each breast, surgeons are able to increase a woman's bust line by one or more bra-cup sizes.
 Breast Lift (Mastopexy) Surgery
Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts – at least for a time. (No surgery can permanently delay the effects of gravity.) Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. If your breasts are small or have lost volume, for example, after pregnancy, breast implants in conjunction with mastopexy can increase both their firmness and their size.

 Breast Reduction Surgery
Breast reduction, also called reduction mammaplasty, is a procedure that removes excess breast tissue and skin, making your breasts more proportional to the rest of your body. The areola (the pigmented skin surrounding the nipple) may be reduced and repositioned as well.
